Anonymous	# Posted: 29 Oct 2009 23:56 Pretty much the title says it all. I am totally desperarte, you guys are my last resort. I have been having this issue for over 10 months which has resulted to be a pain in the ass because I like to spend my day playing an online mmorpg and I just CANNOT do that any longer. I usually have this weird problems in the peak hour which is from 4pm to 12am, the problem never "dissappear" though, I always make sure to ping any server all day long and it always shows 1 packet out of 20 shows a 100ish ping and the others pings are 60ms and in the peak hour i get 5 "request timed out" out of 50 packets and those cause a little "freezes" in my in-game environment, I have recieved 5 technicients in the past 3 weeks, the modem has been replaced TWICE, all splitters and line-end connectors have been replaced, the drop has been replaced, and the tap has been replaced. I am actually using a scientific atlanta EPC2434, plus here's a little information regarding my modem and my connection. Something running on your computer could be causing the lost packets and the pauses in your game. You may have something running on your computer that is dominating your processor for brief periods. Some examples would be any peer-to-peer software such as Kazza or Limewire, or any of the internet security suites such as Norton or McAfee, or any instant messaging programs such as AOL or MSN. The most common source of pauses I find on computers is the Internet Security Suites. In the case of peer-to-peer or IM software, you can simply turn them off to see if they are causing the problem. In the case of Internet security suites, they MUST be uninstalled to be made completely inactive. If you would post the services running on your computer, it may help find the problem.

Of course I don't believe that but your telling me that "...software ain't the problem,..." yet you have done everything else. I see many things in the log you posted that could be the problem. Networking is what I do for a living and the internet is just a very large network. I don't care if it's XP, Vista or 7, too many network and internet services WILL cause problems with the stability of your connection. You also listed Linux,??? What game are you running that runs in XP, Vista, 7 and Linux? If your interested in pursuing the possibility that it may be software related, let me know. Short of that request, I will simply ignore this thread.
