I'm using a WebSTAR DPC2100R2 and ever since the constantly blinking receive light without any internet activity happened, my downloads have been seriously impaired.

I have used AVG-Anti Virus just in case that this is a worm but it hasn't found anything.

Then, I used ZoneAlarm Free and it has blocked hundreds of incoming things per minute. ZA also classified the threat as medium. Also, when I try to browse the internet, it waits for a few seconds and indicates that I cannot connect.

I'm also using OpenDNS but even though I disable it, the same problem happens.

Please help.

How can I fix this?

Welcome to the forum Unregistered.

It definitely sounds like you have something running that shouldn't be. If you could post the services that are running on your computer along with the programs that ZoneAlarm is allowing to access the internet and/or act as a server it would give us something to start with.

Do you have a router and/or other computers running on your connection??

alg.exe.exe
avgnsx.exe
avgrsx.exe
avgtray.exe
avgwdsvc.exe
cidaemon.exe
cisvc.exe
EvtEng.exe (laptop driver)
explorer.exe
firefox.exe
hkcmd.exe
ibmpmsvc.exe (laptop driver)
igfxpers.exe
lsass.exe
RegSrvc.exe
rrpcsb.exe
S24EvMon.exe
scheduler_proxy.exe
services.exe
smss.exe
spoolsv.exe
SUService.exe
svchost.exe (5 processes running)
SynTPEnh.exe (laptop driver)
SynTPLpr.exe (laptop driver)

System Idle Process
taskmgr.exe
TPHDEXLG.exe (laptop driver)
TPHKMGR.exe (laptop driver)
TpShocks.exe (laptop driver)
tvt_reg_monitor_svc.exe
tvtsched.exe
UNavTray.exe (laptop driver)
uTorrent.exe
wdfmgr.exe
winlogon.exe

The computer is a Thinkpad laptop so there are a number of laptop drivers listed above. I am also running uTorrent for the time being since I'm not browsing the web at this time.

I also ran malwarebytes to check for things that avg might have missed. Unfortunately, like avg, malwarebytes failed to find anything as well.

No router and no other computer connected to this. My laptop is connected exclusively to the cable modem directly.

Zonealarm is allowing Generic Host Processess and the other beginning processes. I only installed it yesterday to verify my suspicions about why my connection has slowed down.

Btw. I'm not having trouble browsing the web but I do have trouble in downloading via http and xdcc. Torrent has become so-so ever since this problem started.

alg.exe.exe
avgnsx.exe
avgrsx.exe
avgtray.exe
avgwdsvc.exe
cidaemon.exe (Indexing Service - Not Required)
cisvc.exe (Also part of the Indexing Service - Not Required)
EvtEng.exe (laptop driver)
explorer.exe
firefox.exe
hkcmd.exe
ibmpmsvc.exe (laptop driver)
igfxpers.exe (nVidia option service - Not required)
lsass.exe
RegSrvc.exe (Intel Pro Set driver addon - Not Required)
rrpcsb.exe (Xpoint Rapid Restore - Not Required unless using the Xpoint software)
S24EvMon.exe (Wireless NIC Utility and Diagnostic - Not Required except to change networks)
scheduler_proxy.exe (Probably an auto-updater scheduler from Lenovo/IBM)
services.exe
smss.exe
spoolsv.exe
SUService.exe (McAfee auto-updater - Your not running McAfee so get rid of this)
svchost.exe (5 processes running)
SynTPEnh.exe
SynTPLpr.exe
System
System Idle Process
taskmgr.exe
TPHDEXLG.exe (laptop driver)
TPHKMGR.exe (laptop driver)
TpShocks.exe (laptop driver)
tvt_reg_monitor_svc.exe (Registry Monitoring Service from Lenovo/IBM - Not Required)
tvtsched.exe (Also Part of the entry above, Not required and is known to be problematic)
UNavTray.exe (laptop driver)
uTorrent.exe
wdfmgr.exe (decreases compatibility problems with Mediaplayer 10 and above - Not Required)
winlogon.exe

The TVT services near the end of the list are suspect to causing your prooblems. They are known to be problematic. There are updates from Lenovo/IBM but the service is not required so it could simply be disabled.

You should also remove the SUService.exe service. It is a McAfee auto-updater and you don't appear to be running anything from McAfee.

I would also remove the scheduler_proxy.exe service. It is an auto-updater and will reinstall the things from Lenovo/IBM that you remove.
