I purchased a new wireless router and was going through the install. The program stopped and stated to contact my internet service provider to reset my IP address. Cox Cable cannot locate my modem now, only the power light and the orange light are on...I've reset it, unplugged it...everything they suggested without sucess. Any ideas...now I have no internet.

What kind of router do you have. Linksys, Belkin, D-Link?

Try hooking your system back up without the router. Does that get you back on the internet.

If not, while you have Cox on the phone, restart your modem without anything except the cable connected to it and ask them to try pinging it. If they don't see it then, you either have a bad connection somewhere or a bad modem.

You probably have it connected right but just in case. . . the cable comes into your house and connects to your modem, the RJ45 on the modem goes to the WAN or Internet port on the router and any one of the RJ45's on the router goes to your computer.
