Is this possible ?
The TV connectors are "F" connectors, yet does'nt the PC require RG6 or RG11 connectors?

You can't simply connect the coaxial cable to the computer and have internet. If you have a video capture card in your computer, you can watch and record the TV signal on your computer.

For internet access, you need a device (Cable Modem) to connect to the ISP's network and translate the signal to a type of data that your computer can work with, typically through a cat5e cable aka ethernet cable which utilizes RJ-45 connectors.

I understand that adapters are used.

What I wanted to know was how to transition to broadband from the installed broadcast cable.

Specifically, is there a splitter with both RJ45 and F type connections?

I'm not clear at all on what your asking. To transition to broadband from the ISP's coaxial cable REQUIRES a cable modem. I'm not aware of any other options.

Heres the whole load...
I have a friend who has an upstairs renter. The renter pays my friend a portion of my friends cable bill so that he (the renter)can have an internet hookup (upstairs).
My friend has decided he would like to buy a PC & get online also. The renter has the modem hookup of course.
Now the question, is there a splitter with both RJ45 and F type connections.
Even though a router will need to be used, we still need to know how to transition from the F connection to a Pc connection.

Once again. Please post with the same user name each time. It lessens confusion for those reading the posts on the site.

Why do you need to split the coaxial cable?? All you need to accomplish sharing the internet is a router. Either run cat5 to the second computer or set it up with wireless.

Here is a diagram of a typical setup.
