I have created a page on my website that describes in detail the progression and characteristics of the DOCSIS Specification from the beginning at version 1.0 through the current at 3.0.

It's worth knowing that the 3.0 Specification has introduced Channel Bonding which allows the Cable Modem to essentially run at upload and download speed multiples of the 2.0 specification over a single cable. The two I see at this point are 4 Channel and 8 Channel. This means your speed could be 4 and 8 times what you have with the 2.0 Specification Modems.

This is a huge step that puts Cable Modems back in the lead over the Telco Fiber Optic Service commonly known as FiOS
